Overview
Learning First Alliance (LFA) is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Association Support Specialist to work with other staff members and consultants to promote the mission of the Alliance. LFA is a non-profit organization that provides a platform for national K-12 education groups representing teachers, administrators, parents, school board members, and school specialists to meet to support public education by promoting collaborative, empowering relationships among stakeholders.
LFA is a collegial environment that requires responsiveness and quality in all activities. Each staff member is expected to be a team player, self-motivated, and committed to respectful, honest, and open communication. Our staff includes the executive director, Association Support Specialist, and communications, accounting, and administrative assistant positions. With the executive director’s approval, the position allows for remote work and a flexible schedule.
Scope of Responsibility:
The position involves the following types of work:
- Research, synthesize, and inform organization members and staff about education issues and policies. Collect and synthesize reports, research, and education data.
- Write memos, reports, and blogs for distribution to member organizations and publications on the website.
- Proofread and copy-edit blogs, memos, and reports.
- Provide technical support and content creation for websites, social media, email lists, domains, and webinars.
- Supporting the executive director in the preparation and execution of board meetings, including summarizing board discussions, producing meeting minutes, and organizing lunch.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with daily administrative duties as requested, including responding to emails and member requests.
- Reports to the executive director and other staff members as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Requirements:
- College degree or equivalent
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Ability to master computer programs used by the office and resolve technical issues
- Ability to proofread and copy-edit written documents
- Willingness to learn how to incorporate association management techniques.
- Display a willingness to seek technology solutions to event and business challenges
- Willingness to develop exceptional computer technical skills with Google Workspace/Drive.
- Experience with WordPress, Squarespace, and Canva (or a willingness to learn).
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, the professional use of social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Professional Qualities:
- Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, ability to maintain confidentiality, excellent interpersonal skills, strong initiative, and highly motivated.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- A team player committed to working in a positive, flexible, and collaborative manner, yet able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests while meeting established deadlines
- An interest in supporting public education
Salary range and benefits
- The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000.
- The Alliance provides a comprehensive package of benefits including health, vision, and dental care.
