Communications and Operations Intern
For the Spring 2012 semester, we will be seeking a part-time intern. Start and end dates are flexible, but the internship will ideally run early September through mid-late December. It requires a commitment of approximately 15 hours per week. Days and times are flexible but must be consistent. The intern will be paid an hourly rate based on experience.
Position Overview
Alliance interns work on a broad range of education issues. Intern work includes research, meeting planning, communications and administrative duties. The internship affords candidates the opportunity to meet national education leaders, gain knowledge and experience in education policy and gain experience in a professional environment.
Tasks include:
- Research successful public schools and districts
- Draft bi-weekly newsletter
- Update and maintain the organizational website
- Promote Alliance work
- Research and promote Alliance member organizations’ work
- Support the Alliance’s social media efforts
- Support the planning and execution of Alliance events
- Provide administrative support as assigned
Qualifications
All applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- Interest in education policy
- Self-motivation and an ability to work independently
- Excellent writing and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Word and Excel)
- Familiarity with Photoshop, Audacity and basic HTML coding a plus
- Graduate-level coursework is preferred but not mandatory
